Ohio Transportation Department to Welcome New Director as Marchbanks Steps Down

Governor Mike DeWine has just announced a significant change at the Ohio Department of Transportation.

ODOT Director Jack Marchbanks will be stepping down at the end of September.

Having served since the early days of DeWine’s administration, Marchbanks will pass the leadership to Pamela Vest Boratyn, who will take over on October 1.

Marchbanks’ departure paves the way for Boratyn, a seasoned ODOT veteran with over 30 years of experience.

However, before she assumes her new role, she must receive approval from the Ohio Senate.

“I want to thank Director Marchbanks for his leadership of ODOT since the beginning of my first term as governor,” said Governor DeWine in a statement on the Ohio Governor’s official website. He continued, “Jack has shared my vision for enhancing safety on Ohio’s roads and ensuring our transportation system efficiently serves our residents, businesses, and visitors.”

In addition to overseeing the state’s transportation policies and investments, Marchbanks has been an advocate for the performing arts and African American culture.

“I’m proud of what the ODOT team has achieved for Ohio’s citizens during my tenure,” Marchbanks said in a statement to the Ohio Governor’s official website. After his time at ODOT, he plans to return to academia and continue his dedication to cultural interests.

Boratyn is no stranger to ODOT. She has held several key positions, including Assistant Director and Chief of Staff. She also served eight years as General Counsel for then-Attorney General, now Governor DeWine, overseeing the Transportation Section.

Her current role as Deputy Executive Director of the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund seems to have been the final stop before taking the helm at ODOT. With a clear focus on ensuring Ohio’s transportation network remains safe and modern, ODOT’s leadership is about to change hands.
